We are often so busy climbing the ladder of success that we never take time to see if our ladder is leaning against the right wall. Having no end is a problem. 4. There have been many signs in recent years that Americans are becoming increasingly upset with the unrestricted use of cell phones, especially in public places. Although handheld communication devices can be wonderful in emergency situations, it is the thoughtless way many people use them that is causing the uproar. For example, some cell phone lovers don't think twice about carrying on loud conversations on buses and trains, regardless of what their fellow passengers think. On the road, drivers who use cell phones are not as watchful as motorists who keep their hands on the wheel. In some states, laws are being proposed that restrict the use of cell phones on the road. Some private establishments are asking customers to be more respectful of others by turning their cell phones off. While some customers may react angrily to this new rule, others are sure to be thankful that they won't have to eavesdrop on their neighbors' conversations. [2.25점]

Fires kill thousands of people every year. Learn what to do in case a fire breaks out. Here are some rules to follow at home.
The first thing to do is to make an escape plan. In a fire, smoke and flames may block stairs or a hallway. Plan a way to get out of each room in your home. You may have to climb out through a window. At night, sleep with the door closed.
Don't try to fight a fire yourself. Get away from the fire and call the fire department. Test a door with your hands before you open it. Don't open a door that is warm. Use another way out.
Many fires start in a kitchen. A pan of grease may catch fire. Put a lid on the pan and turn off the stove. Never use water on a grease fire because water will spread the fire.
